Competition

Dance Works offers competition classes for exceptionally motivated dancers ages 5 through teens. The dancers in these classes consistently work hard, both in technique classes and in preparation for dance competitions.

Dancers in the competition classes are required to register for, and attend regularly, the appropriate level of ballet, jazz, and tap technique classes in addition to the competition class.

If you think that your student would be interested in this class, please consider the following:

Motivation: Is dancing your student’s extra-curricular priority?

Time Commitment: The competition commitment begins with the first class in September and ends with Nationals in July.  Regular attendance is required in all classes, not just the competition class. If your student is unable to attend any class for any reason, you must notify the office before the absence. Excessive absences will result in not being able to compete and/or perform. Extra rehearsals may be necessary as we approach the competition dates. These rehearsals will be mandatory. Your student must be able to travel to Denver for regional competition & workshop in March, and to Las Vegas for national competition and workshop in July.

Financial Commitment: In addition to regular monthly tuition fees & proper dance attire, there will be competition fees and workshop fees plus travel & lodging expenses. Additional rehearsals will be at the private lesson rate. Plan on one costume fee for each competition number.

If you have any questions about the competition classes, or would like for your student to participate in this special program, please feel free to contact Miss Crystal or Miss Rachel at 243-5954.
